1352929 Polyvinyl chloride graft copolymer foam L'AIR LIQUIDE SOC ANON POUR L'ETUDE ET L'EXPLOITATION DES PROCEDES GEORGES CLAUDE and PNEUMATIQUES CAOUTCHOUC MANUFACTURE ET PLASTIQUES KLEBERCOLOMBES 19 April 1971 [13 Feb 1970] 21611/71 Heading C3C A rigid cellular material is made by forming a mixture comprising, by weight, 1 to 10% of a vinylidene monomer (preferably styrene) polymerizable by radical reaction, 45 to 55% of polyvinyl chloride, 5 to 20% of an ethylenic carboxylic acid anhydride (preferably maleic) copolymerizable with the vinylidene monomer, 25 to 35% of a polyisocyanate of which at least 50% is hexamethylene diisocyanate, and a blowing agent (preferably an azo compound) decomposable under the action of heat. The composition is heated under pressure in a mould, the product removed therefrom and then heated in the presence of water and/or steam. The materials can be obtained in specific weight between 25 and 90 kg./m.<SP>3</SP> and are stated to have a closed cell structure.
