Abstract

1352584 Glass filaments PARAMOUNT GLASS MFG CO Ltd 19 July 1971 [20 July 1970] 33717/71 Heading C1M An. apparatus for making glass filaments comprises a tank 1 whose bottom is formed of two bushing plates 14 and 16 connected by tubes 15 through which the glass flows, bushing plate 16 being of electrically conductive material and being provided with means for supplying an electric current, and the gap between the plates being air filled. Means, such as cooling plates (18, 19) or tubes (20) which may contain water, may be provided below plate 16, for cooling the glass flowing from the lower orifice. A third plate may be located between and parallel to the two bushing plates 14 and 16 in heat conductor relation to the tubes which pass through it.
