Abstract

1352001 Optical filters BELZERS PATENT-UND BETEILIGUNGS AG 22 July 1971 [5 Aug 1970] 34335/71 Heading G2J Diffraction images, such as star effects in the photography of illuminated signs, are obtained by placing outside the image plane of the objective lens but within its focal length, a diffraction filter comprising a light-permeable substrate supporting an interference filter which is distributed in zones to form a diffraction grid. The interference filter may be produced from a plurality of layers of a di-electric and may be arranged as a series of parallel strips, e.g. as a diffraction grating or two or more gratings which cross one another or in the form of a series of concentric rings.
