Abstract

1351759 Conveyer systems REDMAN FISHER ENG Ltd 3 Jan 1972 [16 Oct 1970] 49181/70 Heading B7L [Also in Division F2] A conveyer system comprises an endless driven chain 7 supported by rollers from a track 8 the chain having dependent driving dogs 9, and a plurality of load carriers 11 movable along a track 10 disposed beneath the track 8, each load carrier 11 comprising a pair of load supporting trolleys 12, 13 connected and held spaced apart by a draft bar 14, a front drive control trolley 22 connected to the trolley 12 by an element 24, the trolley 12 having thereon pivotally mounted driving 27 and retarding 28 shoes for engagement with the dogs 9 on the chain, and a rear drive control trolley 23 connected to the trolley 13 by an element 25 the trolley 23 having a control member 32 thereon which serves to pivot the driving shoe 27 of a succeeding load carrier out of engagement with the driving chain dogs 9 (as shown in Fig. 2) when one load carrier abuts another along the track 10 and the element 25 being in the form of a telescopic metal tubular member enclosing a coil spring which serves to damp the movements of the load carriers as they are brought to rest one behind the other on the track 10. The driving and retarding shoes 27, 28 are gravitationally loaded to the positions wherein they engage the driving dogs 9 and the control member 32 on the trolley 23, which is in the form of a ramp for engaging with the driving shoe 27 of a succeeding load carrier, is pivotally mounted on the body of the trolley 23 by pins 36, 37, a part 38 of the member 32 resting on the head of a bolt 39 to position the member 32 in a vertical sense, the part 38 also carrying a pair of guide rollers engaging the track 10 so that even at curved parts of the track the member 32 will be in a position to engage the following load carrier driving shoe 27. A load carrying assembly 19, e.g. for a motor car body 20 is suspended from the load supporting trolleys. by means of suspension hooks and eyes 16, 17.
