Abstract

1351362 Testing adhesion MOLINS Ltd 21 Sept 1972 [22 Sept 1971] 44276/71 Heading G1S A glass plate 11 slidably mounted in a frame 10 has a band 25 of adhesive applied to it which is contacted by a test member 18 at one end of a beam 16 fulcrummed at 17. A motor 19 is connected by a string 21 to a spring balance 24 attached to the beam, so that when the motor is started the member 18 is pulled away from the adhesive and the force required to do this is read off from 24. The motor is transversely slidable across the plate 11 on guides 13 by turning a knob 15 to move the member 18 along the band of adhesive, and the testing operation is repeated at definite time intervals and at different positions. A heater 28 is provided for testing adhesive above ambient temperature.
