Abstract

1350313 Enamelling apparatus FERRO CORP 17 Feb 1972 [10 March 1971] 7392/72 Heading C1M An apparatus for applying enamel powder to a heated hollow article, e.g. a metal bath, lavatory or sink, comprises a cradle 12 on which the article 10 is mounted, which cradle is supported on a beam 18 in turn mounted on a pair of journals 17 so as to be tiltable about a vertical plane through a rotatable column 20, and a sieve 46 for distributing powder into the interior of the article carried by a support frame 36 mounted on the cradle 12. The support frame carries swingable arms 43 on which the sieve 46 is mounted so that the sieve can be lowered into the interior of the article 10. An arm 60 having a latching mechanism 66 at its free end is mounted adjacent the sieve so as to latch the sieve in its lowered position. The sieve has a vibrator 56 mounted thereon for shaking the sieve to distribute the powder on to the article. The sieve may have a polygonal or circular cross-section and may contain baffle members dividing it into a plurality of chambers.
