1350258 Measuring yarn production STRUMPFKOMBINAT ESDA THALHEIM ERZGEBIRGE VEB 7 June 1971 19176/71 Heading D1F [Also in Division G4] In a method for continuously determining the weight of yarn produced on, and the work performed on, yarn producing or yarn processing machinery having a plurality of yarn handling devices, detectors 1 indicate the presence or absence of yarn being bundled by each device. Each detector 1 is scanned by stepping mechanism 2, controlled by timing generator 3, the interval between each scan of a detector being sufficient to allow the associated device to handle one gram of yarn. A signal from a detector indicating the presence of yarn in a device opens gate circuit 5, via trigger stage 4, to allow a pulse from generator 3 to actuate electromechanical counter 7 to indicate an increase of one gram in the weight of yarn produced. A signal from the detector indicating the absence of yarn closes the gate circuit to the pulse. The work performed is measured as the number of yarn breakages repaired. If a signal from a detector closes gate circuit 5, pulse sleeper 8 emits a negative signal to change the switching state of a bistable multivibrator 9 associated with the detector. If the detector subsequently emits a signal indicating the presence of yarn, the pulse sleeper emits a positive pulse and the switching state of the multivibrator is changed. The multivibrator then emits a signal to actuate electromechanical counter 10 to indicate a further yarn repair. The detectors may each comprise a thermocouple within a tube contacted by the hot moving yarn, or a wheel rotated by the moving yarn to produce electric signals.
