Abstract

1349552 Preheating tundishes USS ENGS & CONSULTANTS Inc 15 June 1971 [22 June 1970] 28043/71 Heading F4B A combined tundish and preheating block therefor comprises the bottom pouring tundish 10 having a detachable refractory cover 12 with filling and viewing openings 14 and 15 and a draining slot 24 in a side wall, co-operating with the preheating block having a burner 30 extending into the filling opening 14 and an exhaust port lining up with the viewing opening 15 and leading to a stack 28. Residual matter in the tundish melts and drains away through the slot 24 thus not affecting its teeming nozzle.
