Abstract
1348826 Connecting wings to aircraft fuselage BRITISH AIRCRAFT CORP Ltd 3 July 1972 [3 July 1971] 31268/71 Heading B7W An aircraft wing/fuselage joint comprises a beam extending from each wing root by a length substantially equivalent to the width of the fuselage so that upon assembly the beams lie side-by-side longitudinally of the fuselage and are each secured to the fuselage at or adjacent each side thereof. Wings 2, 3 have beams 4, 5 and, optionally, spigots 7, 8 and 9, 10 extending therefrom respectively and the fuselage 1 is formed with a transverse tube 6 provided at its ends with fittings 11 and 12 each formed with bifurcations 13, 14 having bores 15 to align with corresponding bores 19 in the beams whereby they may be secured together by bolts 16. Each fitting 11, 12 has a spherically mounted bush 17 to receive a spigot 21 on the end of each beam remote from the wing root. In an alternative arrangement (Fig. 7, not shown) the spigot is replaced by an eye so that a bolt corresponding to bolt 16 may secure the beams together at each end and to the fuselage. In another arrangement (Fig. 8, not shown) one beam is bifurcated with the other beam positioned between the bifurcations and bolted at each end to the bifurcated beam and the fuselage.
