Abstract

1347863 Transferring articles between conveyers; hoppers W KAMMANN [trading as WERNER KAMMANN] 19 April 1971 [21 Dec 1970] 20159/71 Headings B8A and B8S Apparatus for the alignment and erection of articles, e.g. bottles 10, comprises a hopper 13, a plurality of conveyer channels 14 leading from the hopper 13 to a delivery platform 15, these being baffles 39 mounted within the hopper 13, the said baffles defining guide paths by means of which bottles falling into the hopper 13 are aligned with their lengths in the longitudinal extension of each conveyer channel which comprises an endless belt 22 having bottle engaging members 16, which convey the bottles to a part 18 of each channel from which the bottles pass through a vertical region or shoot 19 in which an orientation device (not shown) orientates those bottles whose narrow ends lead in the conveying direction so that such bottles pass bottom downwards to the platform 15, while those bottles whose bottoms are forward in the conveying direction are unaffected by the orientation device. Bottles are removed from the delivery platform 15 firstly to a slow moving conveyer 29 and then to a faster moving conveyer 30 by means of an expelling slider 27, 28 connected to an eccentric drive by means of a rod 26. During their passage from conveyer 29 to conveyer 30 the bottles press against and open doors 32 located at the bottom of each shoot 19 and between the said conveyers. A rejector 35 is associated with each conveyer channel 14 and comprises arm 37 which rotates about an axis 36 to prevent the passage of two superimposed bottles, while bottles which are transversely disposed on the conveyer channels 14 are returned to the hopper 13 by engagement with the surfaces 38a of baffles 38. In a second embodiment, Fig. 4 (not shown), non-circular bodies (11) are moved on to a sole conveyer (30) by means of a slider (28) having trapezoidal recesses (34).
