Rotary and oscillating type for cutting rectilinearly.-Relates to a machine for trimming photographic papers &c. of the type in which the paper, supported on a spring-raised hinged board B and beneath a knife B<1>, is trimmed on depression by shearing action between the knife B' and a knife C<3> carried by a spring-controlled hinged member C. The knife B' is adapted to be swung into an inoperative position about hinges b<1> and to be retained in its lower operative position by abutments b<6> on a pivoted rod retained in position by a spring catch. A stop B<3>, by engagement with an abutment C<6>, prevents the depression of the board B, when the knife B<1> is in its inoperative position and a further abutment B' on the board B, adapted to bear on the knife C<3>, or, according to the Provisional Specification, on a curved line carried by the knife or its support, serves to hold the knife C<3> out of shearing engagement with the knife B<1> when the board B is in its highest position. The member C is cut away at C<4> to facilitate the sharpening of the knife C<3>.
