Abstract
1347317 Fluid regulation I J CYPHELLY 6 May 1971 [6 May 1970 30 March 1971] 13541/71 Heading G3H An electro-hydraulic transducer comprises a tube 1 having a terminal lug 4 at its low pressure end and a flange 3 soldered to its high pressure end, the lug being insulated from contacting parts. An electric current input 5 connected to the lug serves to heat the tube through which tube the hydraulic medium flows, the rate of flow of medium being governed by the supplied electric current. Such rate of flow is dependant upon the changes induced in the inherent properties of the medium by the heat supplied to it from the tube. Figs. 3-14, (not shown), depict modified forms of the tube. The transducer may be incorporated in an hydraulic bridge circuit Fig. 15, (not shown), having a trimming restrictor Fig. 16, (not shown). The restrictor takes the form of a pipe (27) arranged helically around a threaded bolt (31) extending from a base (30), the pipe resting on the base (30) and being acted upon by a washer (33) underlying a nut (32) movable along the bolt (31). Electric overloading of the tube is prevented by arranging the tube such that it bends on heating Figs. 17-19, (not shown), and eventually trips either a mechanical switch actuator or interrupts the supply of light to a photo-electric cell arranged in the supply of power to the tube.
