Vices.-In a T-bar vice of the kind in which the T-bar slides in a channel between ridges integral with a base-plate and is held in the channel by strips or the feet of the fixed jaw, or by both, the ridges 2 extend to the front edge of the baseplate 1 to provide the maximum support against side play of the T-bar. The ridges 2 may also extend to the back edge. The contacting faces of the T-bar, channel strips 4, and feet 6 are machined to fit. The nut 9 of the operating screw 10 is secured to the jaw 5 by screws 11, and the flange 12 is provided with a recess 13 to engage the projection 14 of the jaw 5, or is provided with a projection to engage a recess in the projection 14, to relieve the screws 11 of twisting stress. A cover 16 secured to the strips 4 excludes filings &c. from the T-bar.
