Abstract

1346962 Fluidic elements AUTOMATIC SWITCH CO 26 April 1972 [30 April 1971] 19394/72 Heading G4P [Also in Division G3] Fluid apparatus comprises a plurality of fluidic devices, e.g. of turbulence, wall attachment, proportional, flip-flop and mono-stable type, arranged in an annular array. Fig. 2 is an exploded view of the apparatus showing a disc 12, e.g. of plastics, formed with flow channels of an array of turbulence-type amplifiers, annular gaskets 14, 18, e.g. of synthetic rubber, gasket supporting discs 20, 22, 24, e.g. of plastics, and a circuit disc 16, e.g. of beryllium copper alloy. Fig. 4 shows an assembly of two tiers of the apparatus shown in Fig. 2, slots and holes in the various discs providing communication between the respective fluidic devices in each tier and between the tiers. Pressurized fluid, e.g. air, flows into the apparatus via elbow 32, nylon screen 34 and transverse bore 30, whereafter it flows through a respective emitter channel 62 of each device and forms a laminar jet directed towards an aligned collector channel 66. Control fluid entering through any one of control channels 76, 78, 80, 82 creates turbulence in chamber 64 and deflects the jet towards vents 72, 74 and thence to atmosphere via a stainless steel screen 130 and a coarse screen 132 of woven polypropylene. Tubes 116 supply the control fluid, and tubes 120 receive the fluid from some of the collector channels.
