Abstract

1346701 Acetoacetic acid WACKERCHEMIE GmbH 29 Aug 1972 [4 Nov 1971] 39990/72 Heading C2C Acetoacetic acid ester is prepared by hydrolysing diketene at from 0 to 30‹ C. with the stoichiometric amount of water in the presence of 10 to 60 mol. per cent of hydrogen chloride, relative to the diketene, and crystallizing the acid at - 40 to 0‹ C. An inert solvent such as an aliphatic hydrocarbon may be used and the hydrogen chloride added as free hydrogen chloride or hydrochloric acid.
