Abstract

1346306 Photo-lithographic vacuum frame R J & J E PARKER Ltd 11 May 1971 [24 July 1970] 36004/70 Heading G2A A vacuum frame 16 is mounted e.g. on a spindle 17 in a photo-lithographic plate-making machine and is rotatable between an exposure position and a loading/unloading position; one side of the frame is connected to one end of a blind 19 made of a flexible, opaque, heatresistant material, the other end of which is connected to a resiliently biased take-up member e.g. roller 20, so that in use the blind and frame form a radiation barrier for all positions of the frame between a lamp e.g. a mercury halide lamp, mounted in the base 15 of the machine and the normal position of an operator. The machine may be provided with electromagnetic latches 23 and/or with a vernier gauge pin and spring device (not shown) connected to the spindle 17 to prevent the frame overshooting. It may also have a pneumatic or hydraulic cylinder connected by wire to a pulley mounted on spindle 17 to prevent displacement of the frame from the exposure position and also with a switch connected with sensing means to actuate the lamp when the frame is in the exposure position.
