Abstract
1346292 Harvester-thresher ROTARY HOES Ltd and GOVERNORS OF THE NATIONAL COLLEGE OF AGRICULTURAL ENG 14 May 1971 [21 May 1970] 24537/70 Heading A1F A machine for threshing growing crop comprises a frame 10 carrying a threshing head 17, tracks 11 powered by engine 13, rotor 19, separator 20 and a hydraulic tank 14 above which is a platform 15 for carrying sacks 16. Threshing head 17 includes tapered dividing arms 18 spaced transversely of the machine, defining slots in which the crop is collected for rotor 19 driven by hydraulic motor 9. Head 17 includes a plurality of arcuate troughs spaced axially of the rotor, extending to the slots which are interconnected by a transverse plate having integral extending projections part way between the troughs and by transverse hollow member 57. Rotor 19 comprises a central tubular shaft 65 around the outer periphery of which are welded axially spaced radial discs 66 at right angles to the axis of shaft 65, spaced such that each disc 66 extends into one of the troughs on 58. Extending through discs 66 from one end of shaft 65 are spaced, longitudinally moveable tubular shafts 67. Shaft 65 at one end is engaged with drive means 9, at the other end by stub shaft 59 secured coaxially of hollow shaft 65 by annular disc 69 welded to hollow shaft 65. Pins 71 hold rods 70 in bores 68 of rods 71 and transverse holes in 66 hold outer ends of rods 70 allowing for pivotal movements of rods 70 relative to the discs. Beater rods 70 are alternatively arranged towards one and then the other end of shaft 65,' circumferentially of shaft 65. Rotatable cylindrical plate 73, coaxially arranged about 65 serves to adjust axial movement of rods 67 by moving the inner ends of beater rods 70 thus altering the rod inclinations. Oppositely directed pairs of slots 74 in plate 73 co-operate with axially arranged slots 75 in shaft 65, the slots 74, 75 being connected by pin 76 secured to the end of each rod 67. On rotation ofplate 73, the arrangement is such that circumferential adjacent rods 67 move in opposite directions due to inclination of slot 74. Projection 78 extends radially from plate 73 which is held against end disc 66 by circlip 77. Spring adjustment pin 79 on 78 provides for selective positioning relative to shaft 65. Rotor 19 generates a stream of air in which the grain and waste is entrained. Metal sheet 21 extends rearwardly towards separator 20 which includes an endless moveable screen 25 passed over rollers 23, 24, and drive roller 22. Angular plate sections 48, 49, 42, 27 serve to contain the air flow such that the grain passes from 45 through 40, depositing the waste on 40, the waste then being driven off 40 to outlet 47 by the air blast. The grain falls onto conveying section 27 and is carried to auger 28, to conveyor 29 and then into bag 16 via hopper 31. The sub-frame unit consisting of header 17, separator 20, and seat 32 is pivotable about parallel links 35 which are moved by a hydraulic ram 36. The adjustment provides for forward, parallel movement of the sub-frame while the elevator 29 pivots about its upper end. A tilling device consisting of a transverse shaft and a series of axially spaced discs to which L-shaped earth working blades are secured may be provided behind the rotor. Specifications 1,346,293 and 1,346,294 are referred to.
