Abstract

1346213 Coated tablets YAMANOUCHI PHARMACEUTICAL CO Ltd 17 Sept 1971 [25 Sept 1970] 43543/71 Heading A5B A tablet of improved stability, containing an inner tablet core coated with a medicamentfree, moisture-impenetrable coating composition free from tendencies to crack and (to increase disintegration time) containing less than 50% by weight of calcium lactate and more than 50% by weight of sugar or sugar alcohol, is prepared by applying to tablet cores a coating composition prepared by adding less than 40% by weight of calcium lactate to an aqueous sugar or sugar alcohol solution. The sugar or sugar alcohol may be sucrose, mannitol or sorbitol. The coating composition may also contain a colourant, an opaquing agent, a flavouring agent and/or a thickening agent.
