Abstract

1346052 Torsional vibration dampers; pulleys POWDER COUPLINGS Ltd 19 April 1971 [6 Jan 1970] 23239/73 Divided out of 1346051 Headings F2S and F2Q A pulley 21 for a fan belt is mounted on the inertia weight 14 of a torsional vibration damper for the crankshaft of a reciprocating engine. The torsional vibration damper is required to be of the type comprising a hub member 10, an inertia weight 14 rotatable on the hub 10 and forming with it an annular chamber, vibration damping material (powder, shot 16 or a viscous liquid) disposed in the chamber and thrown outwardly to form an annular layer on the radially outer wall of the chamber during rotation of the hub, and a drive transmission member (fluted disc 12) attached to the hub and projecting into the vibration damping layer to transmit drive between the hub 10 and the inertia weight 14. Specification 1,346,051 has a fan blade mounted directly on the inertia weight of the damper.
