Abstract

1345328 Automatic exchange equipment; number sending devices GENERAL ELECTRIC CO Ltd 14 Dec 1971 [14 Dec 1970] 59216/70 Heading H4K A push button telephone set having 10 numeral buttons and two extra buttons is used for data signalling by having each numeral button associated also with three-non-numerical symbols which can be selected for transmission by operating one or both of the extra buttons prior to operation of the numeral button. The extra buttons are visually marked so that it is clear which should be operated to transmit a particular symbol. As shown the button 11 only allows the contents of the bottom row of the numeral buttons to subsequently be sent and button 12 selects the right hand column symbols for transmission. An additional two symbols can be obtained on buttons 11 and 12, Fig. 2, (not shown). The set transmits the data as two voice frequency tones in a one out of four code for each, so explained in Specification 854,375. The keyboard includes the mechanism disclosed in Specification 1,124,535.
