Abstract
1344582 Watches C MAQUELIN 5 Jan 1972 [13 Jan 1971] 534/72 Heading G3T [Also in Division C7] A watch case element is fabricated of molybdenum and subsequently carburised, after which it may be coloured by heating in hydrogen sulphide, in a controlled atmosphere to produce oxidation, or by anodic treatment in either acid or alkaline electrolyte. Carburisation may be carried out by cementation in a mixture of 60% by weight activated carbon, 30% graphite powder and 10% charcoal powder for 10-15 hours at 1100-1300C, or by heating in a mixture of 98% hydrogen and 2% methyl alcohol, while the hydrogen sulphide treatment may be carried out for about 20 minutes at 850C. To produce a dark colouration, oxidation to produce a blue or orange finish is carried out above 500C.
