Abstract

1344054 Packaging particulate, or pulverulent, material BADISCHE ANILIN- & SODAFABRIK AG 14 Sept 1972 [15 Sept 1971] 42678/72 Addition to 1265547 Heading B8C A process for packaging particulate, or pulverulent, materials in packaging means made of plastics sheeting as claimed in claim 1 of the main Specification is characterized in that the plastics sheeting is locally cold-overstretched in the regions of the perforations. Plastics sheeting 7 is fed between a backing roll 6, covered with elastic material such as rubber 5, and a cylindrical roll 2 having dome-shaped projections 3 each with a piercing needle 4 so that the sheeting is pierced centrally of each locally overstretched region. In a modification, Fig. 3, the backing roll 8 is made of steel and has corresponding recesses 9 to receive the projections 3, the needles 4, slidably mounted in the projections, being movable outwardly, in the proper sequence, by a motor 10. Reciprocating stretching and backing members may replace the rotatable rolls.
