Abstract

1340760 Bicyclo[3,3,0]octene STUDIENGESELLSCHAFT KOHLE mbH 22 Dec 1971 [22 Dec 1970] 59787/71 Heading C5E Bicyclo[3,3,0]octene-2 is prepared by isomerizing cyclooctadiene-1,5 in the presence of a catalyst comprising a mixture of (1) at least one nickel salt and/or at least one organo-nickel compound and (2) at least one halogen-containing organoaluminium compound and/or at least one aluminium halide, there being present at least one organometallic compound. Catalyst components used in the examples are (1) nickel acetylacetonate, #-allyl Ni acetylacetonate, #-allyl Ni bromide and NiCl 2 ; (2) ethyl aluminium sesquichloride, AlBr 3 and Et 2 AlCl.
