Abstract

1339763 Fire escapes in buildings HIROMITSU NAKA 19 March 1971 7410/71 Heading E1A A fire-escape disposed between a floor slab 2 and a ceiling slab 3 of a multi-storey building comprises a manhole 6 having covers 4, 5 hinged thereto as shown. The escape may incorporate a slide 22, a rope, ladder or collapsible stairway. The manhole may be made up from a number of interconnected frame sections, or consist of a corrugated metal or plastics sheet or an elastic sheet of adjustable length. The covers may be interconnected for by various control mechanisms incorporating releasable locking detents for details of which and numerous minor modifications the Specification and remaining Drawings (not shown), should be referred to. The escape may incorporate or be operated by fire or smoke sensing means adapted, if desired, to alarm a control room in the building.
