1339728 Butenyl-substituted cyclic oligomers of butadiene MITSUBISHI PETROCHEMICAL CO Ltd 17 Dec 1970 [24 Dec 1969] 59884/70 Heading C5E [Also in Division B1] Cyclic oligomers of butadiene containing a butenyl or isobutenyl substituent are prepared by contacting butadiene with a catalyst comprising (1) at least one compound of Co or Fe (2) at least one compound of Cr or Ni and (3) at least one trialkylaluminium or trialkenylaluminium. Preferred components are (1) a diketone or naphthenic acid salt of Co; (2) a chloride or oxychloride of Cr. 3 - (1 - methyl - 2 - propenyl) - cyclooctadiene is claimed per se, and other products are butenylsubstituted cyclododecatrienes, 3-methyl undecatriene is formed as a by-product.
