Abstract

1339653 Heat-reversibly cross-linked elastomers AQUITAINE TOTAL ORGANICO 4 Oct 1971 [7 Oct 1970] 46056/71 Heading C3P Elastomers containing heat-reversible crosslinking are obtained by reaction between a metal salt and co-ordinating basic groups present in the elastomer, said groups containing an electron-donor nitrogen atom. In examples, butadiene/2(or 4)-vinyl pyridine, butadiene/ styrene/2(or 4)-vinyl pyridine, butadiene/2- methyl-5-vinylpyridine, and butadiene/dimethyl aminoethylmethacrylate elastomeric copolymers are cross-linked with ZnCl 2 , NiCl 2 or CoCl 2 , and in some cases are then compounded with a filler selected from carbon black, silica hydrate, kaolin, ground glass fibre and asbestos.
