Abstract

1339243 Orientating articles WAHLI FRERES SA 21 April 1972 [26 April 1971] 18761/72 Heading B8S A device for feeding components from a bulk container 6 in a predetermined orientation, comprises a base 7 of the container sloping towards a vertical wall thereof, a receiver 15 at the upper end of said wall for receiving a limited number of the components and having calibrated passages extending downwardly from the receiver base and shaped so that components of a given shape can only pass therethrough in a pre-determined orientation, a reciprocating plate for transferring components in limited numbers upwardly adjacent said wall from the container base 7 to the receiver 15, and means for agitating components in the receiver to facilitate alignment of components with the passages. The passages open into a duct 17 along which a rod 43 is reciprocated to push the components one at a time into position adjacent spindles 18 of a machine tool for processing. The container 6, receiver 15 and calibrated passages are filled with oil, and communicate through interconnecting passages with two cylinders 34 in which pistons are reciprocated to pulsate the oil and agitate the components. The pistons, recipocating plate and rod 43 are all motivated by cams on a common drive shaft, the device being pivotally supported by structure 1 on a rigid number 5 for vertical reciprocation by a further cam to offer one component at a time up to the spindle 18. In another embodiment, the pivoted structure supports two containers.
