Abstract
1339041 Fermentive production of glutamic acid CHING-TANG HO and LIN-HUEY CHANG 15 March 1971 6847/71 Heading C2C [Also in Divisions C6 and A2] Glutamic acid and a feed material are obtained from a carbohydrate containing raw material by (a) hydrolysing with enough acid to give a final pH of 3À2, (b) filtering the product, (c) neutralizing the solution from (b), (d) fermenting with a known ferementation agent to obtain a fermentation broth containing glutamic acid, (e) dividing the fermented broth into two portions, one of which is processed to give glutamic acid and a residue which is then combined with the second portion to give a mixture which is processed to produce further glutamic acid and a feed material and (f) detoxifying the waste broth fraction to produce a feed material. The raw material may be molasses, sugar, starch, or a mixture thereof.
