Abstract
1338682 Halophenyl phosphonates and thionophosphonates CIBA-GEIGY AG 24 Sept 1971 [25 Sept 1970 6 Oct 1970 11 Aug 1971] 44722/71 Heading C2P Novel compounds of Formula I where R 1 is C 1-4 alkyl, or phenyl which is optionally substituted in the para position by chlorine or methyl, R 2 is C 1-4 alkyl, X is oxygen or sulphur and Z 1 , Z 2 , Z 3 and Z 4 are chlorine or bromine, may be prepared by reacting a suitable 2,4,5,6-tetrahalophenol, in the form of a salt or in the presence of an acid-binding agent with a suitable phosphonic or thiophosphonic acid-O- alkyl ester chloride or bromide. The compounds of Formula I have insecticidal, nematocidal, acaricidal and fungicidal properties and may be used as the active ingredients in conventional pesticidal compositions, optionally together with other pesticides or baits.
