Abstract
1338179 Pressure-sensitive recording paper YAMAMOTO KAGAKU GOSEI KK 13 Dec 1971 [15 Dec 1970] 57725/71 Heading D2B [Also in Division C4] A paper sheet for use in pressure sensitive copying has applied thereto or included therein at least one fluoran compound of the formula: (wherein R 1 , R 2 and R 3 are each H, halogen or CH 3 ; R 4 and R 5 are each H, CH 3 or C 2 H 5 ; and R 6 is H, CH 3 , NH 2 or NHCOCH 3 ; and R 1 and R 2 together represent a fused-on benzene ring). Preferably the fluoran compound is dissolved in a solvent of low volatility, e.g. a chlorinated biphenyl, and applied to the sheet in encapsulated form, the sheet also having a solid acid on or within it. Alternatively a pressure sensitive copying set may be made from an upper leaf having an encapsulated solution of the fluoran compound applied thereto and a lower leaf having a solid acid on or within it. Suitable solid acids are acid clay, zeolite, bentonite, attapulgite and phenolic resins. The fluoran compounds develop colours varying from yellowish orange to black on reaction with a solid acid and have excellent light resistance after colour development.
