Abstract

1338167 Photo-electric structure monitoring DEUTSCHE BAUARADEMIE ZU BERLIN 10 Feb 1971 4367/71 Heading G1A In a system for checking the respective positions of predetermined points on an extensive structure by means of reference light beams 10 and photo-cells 15 there is provided a telescopic optical unit 2 with an apertured diaphragm in its common focal plane gymbal mounted in a housing 17, and which is orientated by connection with a damped pendulum, a replaceable light source 1, a rotatable beam deflecting optical prism 5 mounted in the beam path at the upper end of the housing and coupled with a continuously or intermittently driven stepping gearing, and further fixed beam deflecting optical units 9 in the path swept by the beam from the rotatable unit, to produce, during rotation, the reference beams 10. The units 9 are accurately mounted on reference surfaces and include optical wedges at the entry and exit windows for beam adjustment. The source may be a laser, and provision of a surveying instrument 19 and a prism 18 may be made to facilitate visual sighting along the beam paths in the event of a source failure. The photocell outputs may be indicated or recorded, and the photo-cells may be replaced by sighting discs which may be viewed for beam incidence.
