Abstract

1337035 Automatic control of altitude HUGHES AIRCRAFT CO 1 Dec 1971 [1 March 1971] 55697/71 Heading G3R A system for stabilizing a platform with respect to a target, e.g. a weapon sight platform on a helicopter, has at least two linear accelerometers 26, 28 on the platform 16 whose signals are resolved at 38 into true horizontal and vertical components, the resolved signals being scaled by a range signal from 58 and integrated at 62, 64 to produce rate of change of angle signals which are further resolved at 70 back to co-ordinates of the platform to operate torque devices to effect stabilization. The acceleration due to gravity measured at 46, is subtracted at 48 from the vertical component and helicopter command signals from control 72 may be added to the accelerometer signals. The signals are A.C. at the resolvers but are converted to D.C. and filtered for the integration stage and at the output to the torque devices on lines 73, 75.
