Abstract
1336980 Thermoelectric devices CHERNOVITSKY GOSUDARSTVENNY UNIVERSITET 24 March 1972 13951/72 Heading H1K A thermoelectric device comprises an anisotropic monocrystal with leads to tap a thermoemf whose direction is not the same as that of a heat flux through the crystal, and an anisotropic monocrystal plate set relative to the main crystal so that it short circuits a thermo-emf in the same direction as the heat flux. As shown, an anisotropic monocrystal block 1 having its major crystal axes X 1 and Y 1 at an angle to its edges and its major crystal axis Z 1 perpendicular to its side surfaces, is provided with leads 2 at its ends and an anisotropic monocrystal plate 2 is mounted on one side face with its major crystal axes X 2 , Y 2 , Z 2 parallel to the edges of the block. When the device is subjected to a heat flux in the direction of arrow A an emf is generated across the output leads. The block 1 may be a monocrystal of Bi 2 Te 3 and the plate 4 may be of monocrystalline graphite.
