Abstract

1334607 Sliders: applying sliders MINIGRIP EUROPE ASE 19 April 1971 [26 Jan 1970] 20099/71 Heading E2S In the application of sliders 1 on closures 2 comprising two rows of complementarily profiled interlockable elements 6, 6a intermittently advanced in the direction F, (by rollers 7, 7a for example) the sliders are manufactured connected together by linking elements 13 to form chains 12, the slides projecting beyond the elements 13 to form teeth cooperable with a toothed wheel 19 of a slider attaching device. The wheel feeds the chain by rotating intermittently in synchronism with a reciprocated pusher 8 which severs the endmost slider from the chain and pushes it into engagement with the closure elements. Chains 12 may be couplable together by end coupling members 13a, b in, for example, a press-stud relationship. The pusher 8 is mounted on an element 46 of a jack 10 which also drives the wheel 19 via driving rod 27 and bell-crank 22. Catch 32 or a brake prevents reverse rotation of the wheel, Stops 38, 38a on the pusher engage the linking elements 13 on either side of the slider to hold it stationary during the severing operation. The closure is held in a stationary position by clamps 42, 44 one of which 42 maintains the elements 6, 6a open and the other 44 holds them closed (Figs. 5, 6 not shown) to produce an angular arrangement of the element supporting strips or sheets which facilitates the attachment of the slider. The clamps are operated by rolling carriages 47, 48 mounted on element 46 which engage cam surfaces on the clamp jaws. (For Figures see next page)
