Abstract

1334531 Automatic control UNITED KINGDOM ATOMIC ENERGY AUTHORITY 19 April 1971 [2 Jan 1970] 264/70 Heading G3R A closed loop plant variable control system includes at least three integrating sub-systems operating in redundant mode. As shown, signals 1' 1 -1' 3 corresponding to a plant variable are fed back for comparison with a desired value 1<SP>2</SP> 1 -1<SP>2</SP> 3 at C 1 -C 3 in three channels I-III which provide for redundancy. The three resulting error signals e<SP>2</SP> 1 -e<SP>2</SP> 3 are separately integrated at Sand all three integrated signals are applied to logic circuits MS1-MS3 which each select the median value for control of the plant through separate actuators (not shown) to provide further redundancy. Differences between the outputs of the integrators are derived by comparators C 7 -C 9 and fed back to the integrators to balance their outputs and reduce the risk of saturation of any channel. Use of larger odd numbers of channels is referred to.
