1333727 Vehicle heating and ventilating systems REGIE NATIONALE DES USINES RENAULT and AUTOMOBILES PEUGEOT 23 Oct 1970 [4 Nov 1969] 50455/70 Heading F4V A heating and ventilating system for a vehicle which has two hollow beams 1 and 14 extending across the width of the vehicle below the windscreen 16 has air inlet openings 3 in the first beam 1 fed from a pressurized zone in front of the windscreen due to the motion of the vehicle, a fan 4 in the lower part of the first beam, the fan motor being controlled by a rheostat, a chamber 6 below beam 1 containing a heat exchanger 7 receiving hot water from the engine cooling system via flow control means, a mixing chamber 8 having a flap 9 controlling the flow of heated air and a flap 11 controlling the flow of cool air, flap 9 being operatively connected with the hot water control means and both flaps 9 and 11 being connected to the fan motor control rheostat to ensure that the air is properly mixed in chamber 8. Chamber 8 is connected via a flapcontrolled opening and duct 12 to the second hollow beam 14. Openings 15 direct demisting jets against the windscreen, and adjustable ports 18 provide outlets towards the passengers. Side ducts connected through flap-controlled openings to chamber 8 have downwardly directed ports for heating and ventilating the leg space beneath the dashboard. Air-cooling apparatus may be connected to the mixing chamber 8.
