Abstract
133,362. Stabilimenti " Biak "-Ing. A. Pouchain. March 9, 1918, [Convention date]. Alloys having a copper-zinc basis of the 60/40 type contain manganese in proportions from 5 to 18 per cent. The alloys also contain iron and one or more of the metals aluminium, magnesium, nickel, titanium. The total proportion of the iron and other additional metals is always below that of the manganese. A specific example contains copper 61, manganese 10.7, iron 2.3, nickel 0.37, aluminium 3.6, and titanium 0.5; the balance being zinc. A series of known copperzinc-manganese alloys are also specified. The limits of the proportions of the constituent metals of the alloy are : iron up to 6 per cent, aluminium 1.5-4 per cent, magnesium up to 2 per cent, nickel up to 10 per cent, and titanium up to 6 per cent. According to the Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a), the addition to the copper-zinc alloy of the above-mentioned metals other than manganese is not essential. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
