Abstract
1333579 Animated displays PHOTOMOTION CORP 10 Nov 1970 [17 Nov 1969] 53439/70 Heading G5C In a display device, the effect that an object is seen to be moving, e.g. a circle rotating, is produced by placing a first transparent sheet having on one surface thereof uniformly spaced opaque dots at one frequency over a second transparent sheet having on one surface a pattern comprising areas of opaque dots at frequencies which mutually differ and which differ from said one frequency such that moirÚ patterns are formed, and moving one sheet with respect to the other to cause the moirÚ patterns to move. An apparent depth may be introduced into the display device by forming opaque dots on both sides of the second sheet in areas other than in the areas in which the pattern is formed, the frequency of the dots on one side of the sheet being slightly different than the frequency of the dots on the other side and both the frequencies being significantly different from and not a multiple of the frequencies of the dots on the first sheet and forming the pattern on the second sheet.
