Abstract

1332963 Electric correspondence control systems RANK ORGANISATION Ltd 22 Dec 1971 [9 Feb 1971] 4254/71 Heading G1N An electrical circuit for developing an output signal in response to first and second independently variable input signals includes means for comparing the output with the second of the input signals and its inverse, and switching means (diodes) arranged so that the output normally depends upon the first input signal, but is limited by the second input signal. In an embodiment the desired and actual position signals of an actuator (e.g. for zooming or focusing a lens), applied to terminals 5 and 6 respectively, are compared in operational amplifier 3, the output of which is fed back as shown via 10 to one input of 3 and also to further operational amplifiers 1, 2. These also receive a maximum desired rate signal (the second input) from terminal 4. The arrangement is such that of this signal or its inverse is less than the error signal from 3 diode 13 or 17 (acting as a switch) conducts to establish a high loop gain feedback path through the amplifiers 3 and 1 or 2 to limit the output at 20 to the value set by the rate demand signal at 4.
