Abstract
1332892 Television; pulse thresholding IMAGE ANALYSIS COMPUTERS Ltd 29 Oct 1970 20302/73 Divided out of 1332891 Headings H3T and H4F An image analysis system comprises a source (10) of scanned video signals, a threshold detector (12) producing a binary output, and a variable gain amplifier 130 arranged between the source and the detector, the gain of the amplifier being controlled by a voltage which varies in accordance with the low frequency average amplitude variation in the video signal caused by shading. In a first embodiment, Fig. 3, the control voltage is derived from the video signal by a low-pass filter 134 and an amplifier 136. The video signal is passed to the amplifier 130 by a delay line 132 and the threshold level of detector 12 is determined by potentiometer 128. In a second embodiment, Fig. 4 (not shown), the control voltage is derived by means of a peak level detector and an amplifier.
