Abstract

1332734 Catalyst composition UNIVERSAL OIL PRODUCTS CO 19 April 1971 [2 March 1970] 22704/71 Heading B1E [Also in Division C5] A catalyst composition comprises a platinum group metal component, a nickel component, a porous carrier material, and a group IVA component (Ge, Sn and/or Pb) uniformly distributed throughout the entire surface area of the porous carrier material. The composition may also contain a halogen component. Many carrier materials are specified, alumina being preferred. The preferred composition comprises 0.01-2 wt. % platinum metal, 0.01-5 wt. % nickel, 0.01-5 wt. % group IVA metal and 0.1-10 wt. % halogen. The Example describes the preparation of a composition of gamma -alumina, platinum, nickel and germanium.
