1332709 Photo-magnetic detectors PHILIPS ELECTRONIC & ASSOCIATED INDUSTRIES Ltd 4 Dec 1970 [6 Dec 1969] 57507/70 Heading G1A [ Also in Division H1] A device for detecting and/or recording electrons and electromagnetic radiation contains, as the active element one or more materials being a mixed crystal of (1) B Fe<SP>3+</SP> (2-#-#) A # Fe<SP>2+</SP> # O 4 (0##< 1 and 0 # # < 1) and (2) B 1 Z<SP>3+</SP> (2-#1-#1) D #1 Z<SP>2+</SP> O 4 (0## 1 <1 and 0## 1 <1) Where B and B 1 are one or more of bivalent Ni, Zn, Co, Mg, Mn and L 1 + Fe<SP>3+</SP>/2; A and D are Si, Ti, Ge or Sn and Z is Co, Mn or Cr. The magnetic properties of such crystals can be varied permanently by exposure to radiation at 200K. The hysteresis loop of a mixed crystal of Ni 0À36 Zn 0À64 Co 2 O 4 and Ni 0À36 Zn 0À64 Fe 2 O 4 measured in the dark and after exposure to light is given.
