Abstract
1332334 Photo-electric data transmission DEFENCE SECRETARY OF STATE FOR 1 Dec 1971 [ 8 Dec 1970 3 Feb 1971] 58211/70 and 3792/71 Heading G1A In a telemetry arrangement wherein the information is conveyed by a modulated source which is movable relatively to a detector means, the detector means comprises a plurality of photo-detectors or a plurality of optical elements so disposed that in every position of the source there will be at least one on which the optical signals are incident, and means are provided for combining the electrical or optical outputs. The optical elements may comprise fibre optics the outputs of which are combined by a lens. A gallium arsenide source 3, Fig. 1 rotates within a ring of photo-conductive cells 6, the source power being supplied by lamps 13 and solar cells 12. Elements are enclosed in gauge screens 14, 15 to suppress extraneous radiation. In a modification Fig. 3, (not shown) a ring of fibre optic ends are positioned to face the rotating source and the remote ends are directed by a lens on to a photo-cell
