Abstract

1332117 Hydrostatic transmission control JOSEPH LUCAS (INDUSTRIES) Ltd 29 Dec 1970 [27 Oct 1969] 52400/69 Heading F2D In a hydrostatic transmission wherein a pump 34 is connected by ducts 11, 12 to a motor 35 and a normally closed by-pass valve 19 controlled by a pilot valve 26 is opened to interconnect the ducts 11, 12 when the high pressure in one of the ducts 11 (or 12) exceeds a predetermined value, an auxiliary piston unit 32 connected by a selector valve 31 to the low pressure duct 12 (or 11) actuates the pilot valve 26 to open the by-pass valve 19 when the low pressure exceeds a second predetermined value during overrun. The high pressure in the duct 11 (or 12) acts through a shuttle valve 16 on the right hand end of the by-pass valve 19 against the bias of a spring 23. The high pressure is additionally supplied through a restricted passage 21 in the valve 19 to the pilot valve 26 and a high pressure relief valve 29. If, during operation, the pressure in the duct 11 (or 12) exceeds a predetermined value the pilot valve 26 opens to vent the left end of the valve 19 which moves left to interconnect the ducts 11, 12. If, during overrun, the low pressure in the duct 12 (or 11) exceeds a second predetermined value the piston unit 32 opens the pilot valve 26 to vent the left end of the valve 19 which moves left to interconnect the ducts 11, 12. Make-up liquid is supplied through a passage 13 and one-way valves 14, 15 to the low pressure duct 12 (or 11). In Fig. 1 (not shown) the piston unit 32 is only connected to the low pressure duct during forward drive.
