Abstract

Spray carburettors. - The casing 18 is fitted with a choke tube 15 which is concentric with a fuel nozzle 13 over which is caused to slide by a forked lever 12 and pins 10 a hollow body consisting of a downwardly tapering portion 1 surmounted by n hemispherical portion 3. The exterior of the nozzle has flat faces 14, Fig. 3, between which and the inner tube 2 of the sliding body air spaces are formed. Holes 6, 7 are provided in the tube 2 and tapering part 1. Above the tube 2 is a smaller tube 5 into which is screwed a square guide-rod 8 which passes through a bar 20. A slow-running tube 9 extends from the junction of the tubes 2, 5 to the surface of the hemispherical part 3. A notch controlled bv a screw 33 mav be provided in the sliding body at the junction of the curved and hemispherical portions and on the same side thereof as the outlet of the tube 9. A spherical float 25 actuates a fuel inlet valve 28 so as to maintain a constant level in the chamber 22 to which air may be admitted by an automatic valve 30. A duplex carburettor of the above-described type is also shown. In a modification, the notch is replaced by a. passage through the wall of the casing.
