Abstract

133,132. Head, W. J. Sept. 27, 1918. Litters. - A detachable rest for the head or other part of the body, applicable to ambulance stretchers and other invalid carriers or furniture, comprises a pair of [-shaped brackets a, which can be clamped by screws d to the members b of the stretchers &c., and to each of which is pivoted at e<1> an arm e carrying a sheet of canvas between them. The means of adjustment comprise a pin h on the arm e and teeth j on the bracket a, engagement and disengagement being effected by sliding the arm on the pivot e<1>. Screw or bolt holes l, by which the rest may be permanently fixed to the stretcher, are provided in the brackets. According to the Provisional Specification, a pawl may be mounted on the end of the arm e for engagement with ratchet teeth on the bracket.
