Abstract

1331281 Cathode-ray tube displays MATSUSHITA ELECTRIC INDUSTRIAL CO Ltd 7 Oct 1970 [8 Oct 1969] 47777/70 Heading H4T An alphanumeric colour display arrangement using an 11-bit character to specify the character (7 bits) and its colour (3 bits) and including a parity bit, is provided with means for specifying the colour of the background for each word independently by the use of a special character between words. This character has a similar format, a seven-bit combination indicating that this is an inter-word character and 3 bits specifying the colour of the background of the following word. As shown in Fig. 3 characters may be entered at keyboard 1 their colour set on switches at 2 and the whole @coded into 11-bit form at 3 for storage in 5. Read-out from 5 synchronous with display controls the generation of alphanumeric video signals at 7 and their colour display, while the unique inter-word character is recognized at 6 and controls the background colour over unit 8.
