Abstract

1331030 Selective printing CARTER'S INK CO 15 Aug 1972 [16 Aug 1971] 37984/72 Heading B6F An electrographic recording head comprises in combination and face to face, two insulating sheets (40 and 42, Fig. 3), the first sheet (40) having character shaped electrodes 48 and the second sheet (42) having a plurality of mutually spaced electrically conductive strips 60 on the exposed surfaces thereof. The surface of sheet (42) facing sheet (40) has a conductive sheet 52 etched to form non-conductive spaces 54 and 55. Electrical leads 68 connect each character electrode 48 with its associated conductive strip 60. The electrodes and the strips remain after etching sheets 44 and 58 respectively. Surrounding portions of the non-facing surfaces 58 and 44 and portions of the facing surfaces 52 extend about the character electrodes 48 and the conductive strips 60 and are electrically conductive and connectible to circuit means for the purpose of shielding and supressing areas between the electrodes 48 or between the strips 60 or between the electrodes and the strips. The ends 64 of the strips 60 act as terminals of the recording head and are connected via leads (19, Fig. 1) to the electric selective control system of a printer.
