Abstract
1330604 Separation of gas mixtures CELANESE CORP 22 March 1972 [29 March 1971] 13313/72 Heading C1A Carbon dioxide is separated from a gas stream by scrubbing with an aqueous solution of orthoboric acid and potassium hydroxide in the proportions of from 0À6-4À0 moles of acid per mol. of hydroxide, the spent absorbent being regenerated at a temperature and/or pressure different from that used in the scrubbing step to release carbon dioxide. The scrubbing may be carried out at from 70‹ to 160‹ C. at a pressure from atmospheric to 30 atmospheres absolute in order to prevent boiling of the solution and the regeneration step may be carried out within the same temperature range but at a pressure of from 0À9 to 4À0 atmospheres absolute. The regenerated absorbent may be recycled.
