Abstract

1330598 Preparation of oxirane compounds SHELL INTERNATIONALE RESEARCH MAATSCHAPPIJ NV 14 June 1972 [16 June 1971] 27821/72 Heading C2C [Also in Division C3] Oxirane compounds are prepared by reacting, substantially in a non-gaseous phase, an olefinically unsaturated compound with an organic hydroperoxide in the presence of a polyorganotitanosiloxane polymer as catalyst. The amount of polyorganotitanosiloxane polymer may be in the range of from 0À001% to 100% by weight based on the organic hydroperoxide. The molar ratio of olefinically unsaturated compound to organic hydroperoxide may be in the range of from 50 : 1 to 1 : 10. The reaction between the olefinically unsaturated compound and the organic hydroperoxide may be carried out at a temperature between 0‹ and 200‹ C.
